After graduating from USC, Mark Burton produced
over 25 theatre productions in Los Angeles, London, Hong Kong,
Singapore, Bangkok, and throughout India. After starting WonderFilms
in 1995, he produced five Indian feature films including The
Terrorist, directed by Santosh Sivan. After screening
at both the 1999 Sundance and Toronto film festivals, The
Terrorist was released theatrically in the U.S. in January
2000 and went on to garner an Independent Spirit Award nomination
for best foreign film. John Malkovich, an ardent supporter
of the film, presented the picture internationally. Burton
recently executive produced Santosh Sivan's Asoka,
which premiered at the 2001 Venice and Toronto Film Festivals
before enjoying a successful release in the US and the UK.
Burton is currently producing Richard Jobson's
16 Years of Alcohol as well as a project with Film4
in the U.K., The Good Life, based on the novel by Keith
Scribner and adapted by Alexander Stuart (The War Zone).
