Johnny Wow produced his first feature film Dream
with the Fishes in 1997 as Head of Production at the unique
independent feature film development and production company,
3 Ring Circus Films. The film, starring David Arquette and
Cathy Moriarty, received critical acclaim at the Sundance
Film Festival in 1997. One of only a handful of films to secure
distribution during the festival, Dream with the Fishes,
written and directed by Finn Taylor, was distributed by Sony
Pictures Classics and Lakeshore International.
A year later, Wow returned to Sundance with
Tony Barbieri's One. As an executive producer, Wow
oversaw the re-editing and the marketing campaign for the
picture in preparation for the festival. In addition to the
great critical success it enjoyed at Sundance, One
was later picked up for distribution by Shooting Gallery and
Blockbuster Home Video.
Wow's other projects slated for production include
Nakasero, a true story of a man unjustly imprisoned
by dictator Idi Amin; Traces, an unusual story about
a blind shut-in who safeguards a wanted criminal; and Entangled,
a story focusing on how far a couple will go when a hoodlum
forces them to repay an unexpected debt. Prior to donating
his life to the film industry, Wow attended the University
of Pennsylvania where he received a BA in Mathematics and
went on to earn an MFA in Directing at CalArts.
