As someone who possesses a unique combination of talent and grace, Robin Tunney has quickly become one of the most sought-after young leading ladies in Hollywood.
Tunney is currently is production on the Alan
Rudolph directed feature The Secret Lives of Dentists.
Based on Jane Smiley's novella "The Age of Grief,"
the project touches on themes of love, marriage and infidelity.
The film also stars Denis Leary and Campbell Scott.
Tunney will next begin production on the indie
feature A Whale in Montana starring opposite Susan
Sarandon and Leelee Sobieski. The story follows a widowed
doctor in a small town who must come to terms with her past,
present and future when her child's best friend, a 7 year
old from an abusive family, begins having visions of her
dead husband. Rory Cochrane plays the child's father with
Tunney as his battered wife.
Most recently, Tunney starred opposite Chris
O'Donnell in Vertical Limit, a mountain-climbing
adventure film directed by Martin Campbell. Produced by
Mike Medavoy's Phoenix Pictures, the movie is about climbers
who become trapped by an avalanche on the Himalayan peak
K2.
Tunney also recently starred opposite Nick
Nolte and Neve Campbell in director Alan Rudolph's upcoming
Investigating Sex. The film focuses on a group of
men scientifically studying sex and two female stenographers
(Tunney and Campbell) who transcribe the erotically charged
discussions.
In 1999, Tunney starred opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger
and Gabriel Byrne in the apocalyptic thriller End of
Days.
One of Tunney's richest and most challenging
roles was that of Marcy, a young woman with Tourette's syndrome
in Bob Gosse's critically acclaimed independent film Niagara,
Niagara. Her performance earned her the award for Best
Actress-Cuppa Volpe at the 1997 Venice Film Festival, as
well as a 1999 Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best
Female Lead.
Tunney also starred in Andrew Fleming's box-office
smash, The Craft, for which she and co-star Fairuza
Balk won an MTV Movie Award. Her additional film credits
include Encino Man, opposite Brendan Fraser, and
Julian Po, opposite Christian Slater.
For television, Tunney starred in the mini-series "JFK: Reckless Youth", opposite Patrick Dempsey, and "Riders of Purple Sage", opposite Ed Harris and Amy Madigan. Most recently, she co-starred with Kyra Sedgwick and Stanley Tucci in "Montana."
Tunney began her career in Chicago where
she studied at the Chicago Academy for the Performing Arts
and performed in such plays as "Bus Stop" and
"The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds."
